TruePosition Location Platform (TPLP)
The TruePosition Location Platform represents a comprehensive solution offering the best-in-class location determination platform. Our location platform provides all of the key components to allow a customer to provide innovative location-based safety and security solutions and services. The key components and how they interact within the location platform and the carrier network is shown in the following figure and is described in points one through six.

- The TruePosition® Gateway Mobile Location Center™ (GMLC™) connects to the carrier network and TruePosition® Wireless Location Gateway™ (WLG™) and serves as an application gateway. The GMLC also provides the capability to trigger an idle phone with an any-time interrogation (ATI) action.
- The TruePosition® Link Monitoring System™ (LMS™) allows the location system to operate as a passive overlay, extracts control messages between the mobile device and the cellular network and provides triggers based on network events to the WLG.
- The TruePosition® Network Management System™ (NMS™) provides the network management for the location equipment including configuration, performance management, status, and fault management.
- The WLG receives triggers from the LMS, GMLC, or carrier network, tasks the TruePosition® Wireless Location Processor™ (WLP™), and provides the estimated location to the GMLC. The WLG also provides an external alarm feed to a customer’s Network Operations Center (NOC).
- The WLP tasks and manages the TruePosition® Location Measurement Unit™ (LMU™) communications and calculates Uplink Time Difference of Arrival (U-TDOA), Angle of Arrival (AOA), or Hybrid Location Solution (HLS) location estimates.
- The TruePosition LMU is a software defined receiver that collects time difference of arrival measurements from the uplink, which are used to calculate U-TDOA locations.
TruePosition focuses on providing the most trusted and robust products and technologies in the industry, and is continually expanding product capabilities to extend the value of customer investments. As such, the TruePosition Location Platform can easily be upgraded to expand capacity as needed. The defining characteristics of the TPLP are the multitude location technologies it employs, and the array of air interfaces it supports. It can support location technologies such as U-TDOA, A-GPS, and E-CID, thus allowing customers to select the optimal location technology for the application and environment. The TPLP is capable of supporting multiple air interfaces including GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WiMax, and LTE with a software upgrade. Robust Operations, Maintenance, and Design (OMD) tools are also included with the TPLP to reduce operation and maintenance costs.
TruePosition offers an industry-leading GMLC that interfaces the location platform with other safety and security applications. Through the TruePosition GMLC, software applications can request and receive location information. It also plays a key role in high-accuracy determination of an idle mobile phone’s location.
The TPLP may be used as an SMLC/SAS or as Position Determination Equipment being triggered by another device. It is capable of operating with multiple standards-based triggers and can operate as a passive overlay where it does not interfere with the signaling between network elements. The TPLP is also capable of advanced triggers when operating in passive mode or along with the LMS.
