E-911 and E-112 Wireless Location Technology
Wireless location does an extremely important
job thousands of times every day in emergency
situations through E-911 services in the United
States. (The equivalent service in the EU, E-112,
is currently being defined.) E-911 allows emergency
responders to pinpoint a caller’s location
at a time when the caller may be unable to identify
or communicate their position. Faster response
saves lives. The challenge is ensuring that wireless
location is always accurate, and works consistently
in all environments (urban, suburban and rural),
and with all cell phones.
- E-911 services powered by TruePosition
exceed the FCC’s E-911 Phase II accuracy
requirements in the United States. Today,
TruePosition’s
wireless location technology is being deployed
in the AT&T (formerly Cingular Wireless)
and T-Mobile networks as well as several regional
networks.
- Wireless Location Technology for Rural Markets
provides unique challenges where the E-911 mandate
is concerned. TruePosition has developed a special
rural technology package that helps rural carriers
meet FCC requirements despite their restricted
buying power, limited technology options and
challenging radio frequency environments. Today,
TruePosition’s rural technology package
is being deployed by smaller carriers like Viaero
Wireless and Iowa Wireless.
