E-911 and E-112 Wireless Location Technology

Wireless location does an extremely important job thousands of times every day in emergency situations through E-911 services in the United States. (The equivalent service in the EU, E-112, is currently being defined.) E-911 allows emergency responders to pinpoint a caller’s location at a time when the caller may be unable to identify or communicate their position. Faster response saves lives. The challenge is ensuring that wireless location is always accurate, and works consistently in all environments (urban, suburban and rural), and with all cell phones.
